NorthStar Communications Group Acquires Dynegy Network Operations Center
For Immediate Release. February 24, 2003, Birmingham, Alabama: NorthStar Communications Group (NorthStar) announced a series of strategic agreements that transfer ownership of Dynegy's Denver-based Network Operations Center (NOC) to NorthStar, which will perform NOC services for Dynegy's global network under an outsourcing agreement.
"The acquisition of Dynegy's NOC is part of our business development strategy as we continue to augment the foundation of our core competencies," remarked Bill Johnson, NorthStar's president and CEO. "This arrangement expands our customer base, strengthens our network operations and maintenance services offering and adds top talent to our organization."
As a result of Dynegy's commitment to divest its investment in communications and focus on core energy businesses NorthStar acquired all Dynegy NOC assets as well as a significant portion of Dynegy's NOC workforce. Designed as a large-capacity commercial facility strategically located in Denver, CO, the NOC is capable of supporting multiple customers with continuous, around the clock coverage, including backup, overflow or disaster recovery services. NorthStar will provide NOC services from the Denver facility and migrate service for existing customers to that location from their existing facility in Plano, Texas under the executive sponsorship of Dean Coons.
